Klahoose CCP
The large pieces of glass that will give the new Klahoose Multipurpose Building a shining face are being carefully placed by Sierra Glass Contracting from Mission and Pino-lite Glass from Victoria, B.C.
Each custom piece is placed into the large frames on the walls facing the beautiful Desolation Sound. Supervisor Shawn Leggitt and fellow coworkers, Brian Muir and Preston Baxman are right on schedule and happy to be in Squirrel Cove.
As the temperature rises with spring in the air the crews from Hedefine Contracting place the new metal roof.
Company owner, Shane Hedefine, is no stranger to Cortes Island projects as his company has completed many roofs in the local area. Shane was also instrumental in the construction of prior Klahoose buildings and knows some of the Klahoose people. Hedefine Employee Noah Web grew up on Cortes Island and is another familiar face on the site.
Concrete continues to pour on the main portion of the building. The flooring is being prepared for the final concrete slab in the main section of the building. This part of the structure will be a multipurpose and media rooms, full size commercial kitchen with walk-in refrigeration and the main entrance area.
Custom heating in the flooring and the overall plumbing is a highlighted feature being installed by Torry and Sons Plumbing and Heating.
Tours of the site are available by visiting the Ledcor Construction Trailer
