The 30 foot Western Red Cedar has made its way home and will rest in the Yakomen Valley (Toba Inlet).

Salish Carver, Darren Joseph is heading back to do the final touches to this memorial Pole adding the outstretched wings and any other final carvings.

This project was started by a group of Klahoose members who wanted to remember friends who had passed away while working on the Plutonic Power Run-of-River Project. “It was our way of showing the families respect.” says Elder Norman Harry Sr.

The project has been a success with support from Klahoose First Nation, Plutonic Power, Peter Kiewit and Sons Construction and Ledcor Construction.

After the pole is completed it will be resting at the mouth of the Toba River at a pole raising ceremony. The date for this ceremony has yet to be determined.
