With insulation applications, electrical infrastructure, plumbing fine tuning and the concrete flooring being finished, the New Relationship Building is nearing completion.
The air is filled with a drilling hum of pneumatic tools as crews continue to rigorously assemble the beautifully crafted structure.
Ledcor Construction Superintendent Paul Halverson expressed his enthusiasm over the progress. “With the flooring finished we are now getting started on the drywall and finishing. We are looking forward to the opening ceremony. ” said Paul.
Bart McDonald from Torry and Sons Plumbing and Heating has been working on the extensive heating strategy in the massive new building. Bart and his crew worked long hours to complete the main floors with a custom inlay heating system. This concrete encased hot water system is included on the lower levels and grand hall areas. The end result is an overly satisfactory finish that is flawless and seamless. The progress compliments the quality work that has already been completed by Torry and Sons Plumbing and Heating.
Another important aspect of the building core is the electrical services. Neil Johnson is lead hand with installing the electrical systems for Apple Electric. One of the jobs for Neil was to install a sensitive back up power system which will work effortlessly when the power goes out. This type of infrastructure is crucial for community safety as well as being beneficial to the Klahoose technology intranet. Fellow Apple employee Rheanan Robertson grew up on Cortes Island and is taken back at the progress of the building. “It’s nice to be working at home” she said.
Apple Electric is working on the lighting connections and will be finishing the main outside hydro connections as soon as the infrastructure is completed.
What’s next?
The drywall installation has started and soon will be the Western Red Cedar trim and tongue and groove ceiling installed by Klahoose Employees. Ledcor has a few outside projects to complete with the walkways, stairwells and decking to be finished shortly. Reo McCoy Contracting is finishing the conduit for the hydro services and will be working on finishing any road issues.
