A cultural ceremony will mark the start of construction of the new multi-purpose 'new relationship' building to be built in Squirrel Cove. At press time, the construction is scheduled to start on July 15, 2009, with road and site clearing leading up to excavation. A public ceremony, to bless and honor the site, is being prepared with details to follow.

Band Council and staff, along with architects and the many building consultants and engineers are meeting weekly to review the final plans, with public tenders to be issued within the week.

The first work includes site clearing, road building, and excavation for the building, to be followed by construction formwork and preparation for cement and reinforcing steel. Over the next few weeks other tenders will be issued for timber framing, windows and the related electrical, mechanical and other trades required to build a 12,000-plus square foot building. Check out www.klahoose.org for other details and 3-dimensional models of the new building.
