A nice Australian greeting to everyone in the community of Klahoose. My home, my land and my people, although I'm half way around the world I still want to check in and tell you guys what I've been up too. I went to a place called Yamba with Jake Winter Cathy Winter's son (my childhood best friend) which is several hours from Sydney. We surfed almost every single day and if we weren't at the beach chilling out relaxing we were meeting people . I bought a car, a 1987 Saab 900i, dark blue. I named her Ronnie and after that Jake and I, a couple of other friends drove North to a small surfer hippy town called Byron Bay. We met up with some friends from Campbell River and we got an apartment together with some English, Dutch, and Canadians. 10 of us all crammed into a two bedroom holiday apartment. Once again Jake and I continued to surf everyday and live as cheaply as we possibly could, we had 10 days in this apartment then after that Jake and I hopped in Ronnie and started driving North all the way up to Cairns, roughly 2000 km away. It took us three days to conquer this leg and on the way we would sleep on the highway stops in our tent, a 3 man but barely fit 2. The rain came down on us really hard on the second night of traveling in a place called Maclean. It dripped and dropped on us all night and sleeping felt like an unachievable goal. The next day back on the road again and this time our goal was to get to Townsville but we just kept on going and going until we reached Cairns. Jake and I stayed in this hostel called "The Serpent" which was multiple stories high, the kitchen was always dirty :( Jake went home and now I'm basically on the solo mission to find a job, I've been unsuccessful due to the amount of public holidays. The bank was closed for the weekend and Monday so I couldn't take out any money so I had to make $5 stretch out for 3 days, it was tricky but I managed to do it just fine living off of bread and noodles, mmm yummy. Tomorrow the bank will be open and I can eat veggies and all the normal protein filled goodies. So on Tuesday the real job hunt begins, a lot of people go around for hours at a time trying to find a job handing out CV's (resumes) from place to place. I'm going to hit up all the coffee shops, pubs, and clothing stores. If I don't find a job soon I will have to travel around 60km to go pick fruit which won't be the easiest of work but if I have to, I will do it. Over all Cairns is a nice place, it's a city, but it has a small town feeling to it. There is no surf here which is making me going insane, but on the good side of things I'm making friends and I found a huge awesome skate park which I go to every night when it cools down.
