Marlene Hanuse: Receptionist
On the spot news! · 1st February 2011
Klahoose First Nation
The glass shines over the fresh glow of the ‘New Relationship Building’. Not a sign of construction is left other than the busy hum of Klahoose Staff working in their new offices. The new home of the Klahoose Nation is now complete and is open for service to The Klahoose People near and far.

The day starts early at Klahoose with Chief Ken Brown and Council members arriving as the sun crests the West Coast mountains.

Administrator, Bev Hills is coordinating efforts to get the transition from the old location to go smoothly. He is working with the new Maintenance Superintendent, Kevin Peacey on his new duties on the elaborate needs of the new space. The building is a modern wonder with custom designed heating and electrical systems matched only by commercial offices you see in major cities.

This gleaming home for Klahoose is not a traditional Cortes Island building, but it is a work of art; wonderful and respected by all. The illuminated hall lets the sun through the glass railings and sets the tone for a new feel and a new beginning.
Councillors Jessie Louie and Kathy Francis are busy in their offices bright and alive. Marlene Hanuse is working the phones and assisting band member and guests, fielding questions and requests enough to keep her going all day.
The entire Klahoose staff have been working hard since the move to the new building. Computers networks are being installed, exercise equipment is assembled, boxes have been emptied and the commercial kitchen is ready for the grand opening.

Councillor Wayne Pielle’s smile reaches wide when he says, “It’s beautiful.”

Look for the Grand Opening soon!
