The Klahoose Legacy Fund is a trust created in partnership with the Powell River Employment Services Society to help with the educational and social goals of Klahoose First Nation members.
The purpose of the fund is to assist with financing of educational and training needs that are not already funded by government or other sources. It is also in place to assist with Klahoose members involved in sports or social activities that involve art, culture or language. The opportunity was created by a partnership with Klahoose and School District #47.
This important opportunity for Klahoose members of all ages was spearheaded and made a priority by Chief Ken Brown and the Klahoose Council.
District Superintendent, Jay Yule has been a proponent of this program and is pleased to see this program being implemented.
The fund was created from a direct result of the recently completed run-of-river hydro project in Yekwaman (Toba Inlet).
