Klahoose fisheries office has been kept busy keeping an eye on and an ear trained to the herring fishery activities around Hornby Island and Denman Island. Of interest is upper and Lower Baynes Sound which is the area north of Deep Bay and South of Comox. There has been reports of massive volumes of herring swimming around the islands waiting to spawn. Klahoose fisheries with the help of Terry Chickite, Steven Francis, Norman Harry Sr and some fishermen from the Chickite Clan of Cape Mudge has been patiently waiting and watching as the weather continues to delay any meaningful attempt at the traditional system of fishing for herring eggs, a long time repast of the Klahoose people. I used to work on herring issue with Sliammon and Chemainus.

Did you get any Hawxaeexum, in the end? Did Lee George from Sliammon come over to give you a hand? I went over on Floyd George's gillnetter once, we found it frustrating.
