Ken Hanuse
Submitted by Ken Hanuse – Klahoose Fisheries Office
I hope everyone is getting outside to enjoy the last of the Summer Season. The Fisheries program has been very busy this time of year organizing and distributing the seasonal food fish and planning for the months ahead when the fish return to the Toba, Brem, Quatum and Forbes. The creeks on Cortes Island will begin to show signs of fish returning in the next few months.
I have had a very satisfying 5 day trip to UBC to learn more about Fish Health and how it relates to fish husbandry at the Klahoose Incubator shed. The knowledge is very useful for Hatcheries and fish farms.

If you ever have a chance to visit UBC, stop in at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum and check out this beauty below. In this Museum there is a complete skeleton of a whale that flirts with the imagination. I had to ask whether the whale was male or female.
