We have some upcoming courses through the First Nations Employment Society that you may be interested in.
Career Essentials Course: September 19th to Oct 28th, 2011
This six week employability skills course is held at the Sliammon community and is open to any First Nations people. This course highlights essential skills to help with employability and getting motivated towards your career goals:
“Do you know that over 40% of Canadian workers do not have the essential skills required for basic
entry-level jobs? Essential Skills include the fundamental skills of reading, writing, math training as well
as training in communicating effectively with people at work, using documents and using computers.
Essential Skills help people perform the tasks that are required by their jobs and other activities in their

If you have an interest in this course please sign up at the band office with Marlene Hanuse at the front desk in Squirrel Cove or Contact James. Travel and Accommodation will be provided to eligible clients.
CORE Essentials Training: October, 2011
This course will be held at the Homalco Nation and is an introductory course in construction. No specific background in construction is necessary but a willingness to treat as a job essential. If you would like to take this 8 week paid course please sign up with Marlene at the front desk and see James about details.
Class One Drivers Training: October, 2011
If you have your class 5 drivers’ license and would like to get your Class One professional drivers license, a course is starting in Tsawwassen First Nation. You will need drivers abstract to apply. Students will have the ability to access training and accommodations support while attending this 8 week course. See James for more information.
