Klahoose CCP
We have plenty of reason to celebrate as the completion of our traditional structure is complete.
The design, by cultural builder Murray Mitchell, has become a centre for our storage of new lumber and construction equipment. The main idea for this building was to construct a model for a building in the traditional camp grounds called Au'puk'wum (having maggots). We will use the design to complete a traditional canoe shed which will feature an area for community activities.
Klahoose would like to recognize the band and community members who spent much energy into this project, and the sawmill program by Klahoose Social Development: Murray Mitchell, John Hanson, Eric Rief, Dan Burm, Terry Chickite, Troy Silvey, Allen Hanson, Caroline Francis, Arnold Francis and Kevin Peacey.
A special thanks to administrator Bev Hills for overseeing the project, Fran Woodcock from Social Development and Ron Wolda for sawmill support.
