November 2007 Qathen Xwegus Management Corporation.
The leadership of Klahoose have completed the creation of a new Development Corporation to undertake and manage the economic opportunities for the community.
Summer 2007 For the first time in decades, cash flow is coming into the band allowing us to plan for the future and look at different ways for economic development.
The Klahoose First Nation is in the process of setting up an economic development corporation, to study, plan and implement economic development initiatives that benefit our nation and the surrounding community including the forestry and aquaculture sectors.
We are closely related to the Sliammon people near Powell River, and the Homalco, living in Campbell River.
The development of hydro in the Toba Valley is creating infrastructure never before available. Upgrading of the old roads and expanding the road system well into the valley along with permanent bridges give us ready access to the territory.
Over $30 million will be injected into the Toba hydro project alone gaining access to the hydro electric resources. The Toba Valley is destined to become a valuable resource for the Klahoose First Nation for operations such as forestry and ecotourism. |
